Pre-Ceremony

Getting Ready

  • Create a Timeline!
Create a detailed timeline for the day, starting with when hair and makeup should start, when to put the dress on (last minute, by the way!), and when to leave for the ceremony. Having this figured out and visualized ahead of time will help avoid unnecessary stress on the day.

  • Assign a Point Person!
If you do not have a hired wedding planner (or even if you do), consider asking a close friend/family member to be the go-to for questions or issues on the day. This way you can relax, and not have to sweat the small stuff.

  • Stay Hydrated & Eat Something!
You are in for a big day.
Hydrate now, and get a little something nourishing in your belly.
It’ll be awhile until you’re sitting down for supper, and if you’re planning on having alcoholic beverages, this might be your only chance to get enough H2O in.
Although you may have a nervous tummy, having a light meal will go a long way. It might be until dinnertime that you eat next, not to mention nausea hits worse on an empty stomach. Have a little something for brunch, thank yourself later.

  • Tips for the ladies!
Avoid unwanted indents and lines by removing hair ties from wrists, and wearing a soft, stretchy bra (or no bra at all!) while getting ready!

  • Meaningful Moment!
Consider having a special moment for you and your spouse-to-be! This can be a letter you’ve written them, a sentimental gift, listening to your song, looking through old photos, or even holding their hands with your backs to each other for a moment of prayer!

  • First Look with Family!
A special moment to capture is a father seeing his baby girl in her wedding gown, or a mother pinning her baby boy’s boutonniere on his lapel. Plan ahead, and make sure your photographer knows when & where!

Details

  • Flat-Lay!
A beautiful way to tell the story of your wedding day aesthetic is with a flat-lay! This usually includes your rings, invitation stationary, flowers, and any other pretty little things that are a part of your wedding day. Some more fun ideas: the perfume or cologne you're wearing that day, the six pence for your shoe (as seen to the right!), your veil, cuff links or bowtie!

  • Gather It All Ahead of Time!
Have a basket with these items at the ready; this will typically. be the first thing your photographer will work on while your hair and makeup are being finished. You’ll need a lot of these items soon after to finish getting ready anyway, so having it all put together will be helpful not only for your photographer but for your peace of mind too!

Couple’s First Look

  • Consider a First Look!
Consider having a moment to see your soon-to-be before the ceremony! Yes, you heard that right. Before she’s walking down the aisle. Don’t worry, it’ll still be a beautiful moment seeing her walk down that aisle to you. However, you’ll have gotten some nerves out and maybe even feel more relaxed and excited!

  • A Private Moment!
This can also be a lovely time to share a moment of peace together. You can exchange some private words or vows, or just speak from the heart. The rest of the day will be spent with all of your loved ones celebrating and surrounding you, and you might appreciate having had a quiet moment with your special someone before the (loving) chaos ensues.

Overall

Basically what I’m trying to say is…

Try to relax.
Be present.
Prepare your heart.
Prepare your mind.

Get Ready For Your Forever.
